Fall Facial Season: Why Now is a Great Time to Refresh Your Skin

Fall facial and seasonal skincare at DK Spa in Lynnwood, Washington

There’s something about fall that makes us want to reset a little.

The weather starts changing, routines shift, and after months of sunshine, warmer temperatures, sunscreen, and everything else summer brings, your skin may be ready for a little extra attention too.

Fall is actually one of my favorite times to focus on skincare. Not because your entire routine needs to change overnight, but because this is a great time to check in with your skin, see what it needs now, and give it a fresh start for the season ahead.

Your Skin Has Been Through a Lot This Summer

Summer can be wonderful, but it can also leave its mark on your skin.

Sun exposure, heat, sweat, sunscreen, travel, and changes in your normal routine can all contribute to skin that feels a little different by the time fall arrives. You might notice more dryness, uneven texture, congestion, or simply that your skin doesn't have quite the same glow it did before.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. Your skin's needs change throughout the year, and the transition into fall is a natural time to reassess what it's asking for.

Cooler Weather Can Mean Drier Skin

As temperatures begin to drop and we start spending more time indoors, our skin is exposed to cooler outdoor air and drier heated indoor air.

That can affect your skin's moisture levels, even if you don't typically consider yourself someone with dry skin.

This is a good time to pay attention to hydration and make sure your skincare routine is supporting your skin barrier rather than leaving your skin feeling tight, flaky, or uncomfortable.

And sometimes that means the products that worked perfectly for you all summer may need a little adjustment for fall.

It's a Great Time for a Fresh Start

One of the things I love about a professional facial is that it gives us a chance to really look at what's happening with your skin right now.

Your facial doesn't need to be exactly the same every time you come in.

Maybe your skin needs more hydration. Maybe you're dealing with congestion or texture. Maybe you're looking for exfoliation and a brighter, smoother appearance. Or maybe your skin is doing just fine, and you simply want to maintain it while enjoying an hour to relax.

That's why I customize treatments around the person on my table rather than treating every face exactly the same.

Don't Forget the Relaxation Part

Skincare is obviously an important part of a facial, but I don't think it has to be the only part.

Fall schedules can get busy quickly. School is back, activities pick up, the holidays aren't far away, and suddenly our calendars start filling up again.

Taking an hour for a facial can be about caring for your skin and giving yourself permission to stop for a little while.

And now, if you'd like a little more time around your appointment, you can choose the Sanctuary Experience when you book your facial. Sanctuary gives you 10 minutes before your service to settle in and 15 minutes afterward to stay awhile, refresh, and ease back into your day.

Your facial is still your full treatment time. Sanctuary simply gives you a little more room around it.

And Because It's October...

I couldn't let fall arrive without bringing a little pumpkin into the treatment room.

This month, I'm offering the Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice Facial, a seasonal treatment featuring a pumpkin enzyme along with cleansing, steam, light extractions, massage, a mask, finishing products, and SPF.

It's a fun way to embrace the season while giving your skin some fall attention too.

But whether you choose the Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice Facial, your usual favorite, or you're not quite sure what your skin needs yet, fall is a great time to check in.

Your skin doesn't need a complete overhaul for every new season.

Sometimes it just needs a little attention, a little hydration, and maybe a little time for you, too.
